Supply and Installation of Markham Safety Boom

Description de projet

The City of Markham, via Brooke Restoration and AdorTECH, hired Equinox Construction Services (ECS) to carry out the assembly and installation of the

safety boom on Toogood Pond. The material was provided by AdorTECH and fully responded to the client’s requirements.

The installation was carried out with a floating work platform and a 2-Ton hoist in order to minimize the impact on the pond’s surroundings as well as

to simplify the transportation of the blocks from the shore position to the in-water anchor locations.

The safety boom was connected to a floating buoy at the peak and shoreline anchors on each end, which were fitted with galvanized plates to contain

the anchor chain.

ECS managed the supply, logistics, and delivery, as well as the installation of the new boom. The proper positioning, elevation, depth and arrangement

of the boom were determined by the client's engineering staff.
