Norwich Dam Safety Boom - Design, Supply, Install

Project Description

Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) mandated Equinox Construction Services (ECS) to carry out the design, supply, and installation of a permanent public safety boom, including on-shore and in-water anchors, at the Norwich Dam. The aim of this project was to enhance public safety around the dam, all while limiting the impact on the local environment.

The safety boom serves as a critical barrier to prevent boats, debris, and individuals swimming near the dam from approaching dangerous areas, thus minimizing risks and ensuring safe water management practices. Its installation significantly contributes to the long-term safety and reliability of the Norwich Dam.

ECS was in charge of the technical design of the safety boom and anchors, the fabrication and preparation of the components for installation, and the integration and commissioning on the dam site by ensuring a clear progression from planning to execution. ECS also managed all permitting requests, supplied a Maintenance Manual and offered a 5-year guaranty.
