The Challenge: Rebuilding a Dam Under Complex Site Conditions
The Lac Morin dam rehabilitation project required the demolition of an existing structure and the construction of new hydraulic infrastructure within a constrained site environment.
Several field conditions differed from what had been forecast during the tender period, requiring close monitoring, rapid adjustments and strong coordination between the project team, subcontractors and site personnel.
Additional challenges included sealing work that proved more difficult than anticipated, as well as alignment errors that had to be corrected during execution. These conditions required a structured construction management approach and continuous follow-up of schedule, technical documents, change requests and field activities.
Intervention by Equinox Construction Services
Equinox Construction Services was responsible for project and construction management support throughout the Lac Morin dam rehabilitation mandate.
ECS developed and coordinated key preparatory documents required for mobilization, including technical data sheets, work methods, cofferdam and formwork design, and the Environmental Protection Action Plan. Equinox also prepared and updated the work schedule, managed change requests and coordinated the various subcontractors involved in the project.
The mandate included site supervision, preparation of QRTs and DMTs, and the execution of pre- and post-construction bathymetric surveys to support project documentation and technical follow-up.
By combining construction planning, site supervision and technical coordination, Equinox helped support the successful execution of a $1.5M dam reconstruction project completed between June and December 2024.
